Crossbow, early 1600s. Germany, early 17th Century. Wood, stag horn, flax cord and steel; overall: 63.5 cm (25 in.); bow: 60.2 cm (23 11/16 in.); butt: 5 cm (1 15/16 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Gift of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Severance 1916.1729 The decoration of four strips of inlaid horn was quite rare.
