- Inscription: 依村構草亭,端方意匠宏。 林深禽鳥樂,塵遠竹松輕。 泉石俱延賞,琴書悅性情。 何當謝凡近,任適慰平生。 至正七年丁亥冬十月,為元澤戲作草亭詩意。梅沙彌書 [印]楳華盦; 嘉興吳鎮仲圭書畫記 Translation: Artist's inscription, signature, and 2 seals: A thatched pavilion stands by the side of a hamlet./ Well conceived, the view from it is expansive./ The forest deepens just as the birds are joyful./ The bamboo and pines remain light, as the dusty world is far away./ Its spring and rocks are for our enjoyment./ The qin and books are to delight our spirit./ How should I bid farewell to those of the common place?/ May it suit our heart’s desire and bring solace to our life. In the tenth month of winter, in dinghai, the seventh year of Zhizheng [1347], did this Poetic Feeling in a Thatched Pavilion playfully for Yuanze. Written by Mei shami [Novice of the Plum Blossom]. [seals] Mei hua an; Jiaxing Wu Zhen zhong gui shu hua ji Inscription: 我愛梅花翁,巨老傳心印。 脩此水墨缘,種種得蒼潤。 樹石墮筆鋒,造化不能吝。 而今橡林下,我願執掃汛。 後學沈周 [印]启南 Translation: Colophon by Shen Zhou (1427-1509): I love the Old Man of the Plum-blossom,/ Who inherited the secrets of Juran from heart to heart./ In cultivating this "water and ink kinship"/ He was able to endow everything with a touch of aged mellowness./ Trees and rocks seem to fall from his brush [so effortlessly]/ That even nature itself could hardly deny their emergence./ So now, under the grove of the oak trees,/ I am willing to serve him with all humility. Shen Zhou, a later follower. [seal] Qinan Inscription: Colophon by Chen Rentao (1952): 予求梅道人畫二十年不可得。所見多膺鼎,即故宮所藏山水數軸都不可靠。傳世真迹,惟《漁父圖》、《嘉禾八景》與此《草亭詩意》而已。壬辰十月十四日余大病初愈,居家休養,研山師忽持此圖相贈。展卷披覽,頓覺精神沛振,如服僊藥。同日又得宋拓柳公權《神策軍紀聖德碑》,及群玉堂藏《真草書千(字)文》,皆海內孤本。一日得數寶,欣喜何如,書以志幸。 陳仁濤識 [印]陳氏仁濤 Inscription: Colophon by Chen Rentao: 此圖作於至正七年丁亥,時年六十八,盖其晚年神品也。 濤又識 [印]陳仁濤 Inscription: Title on frontispiece by Li Dongyang 李東陽 (1447-1516).
