Funerary Female Figure, 1200–1500. Peru, South Coast, Chicha-Ica Valley area, 15th-16th century. Hammered silvered copper, cinnabar; overall: 24.6 x 8.4 cm (9 11/16 x 3 5/16 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Norweb Collection 1957.397 The red pigment on the face is cinnabar, a mineral consisting of mercury sulfide.
