Funerary Mask, 1200–1500. Peru, South Coast, Chicha-Ica Valley area, 13th-16th century. Hammered silver; overall: 15.3 x 15.6 cm (6 x 6 1/8 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Norweb Collection 1957.396 The red pigment on the face is cinnabar, a mineral consisting of mercury sulfide.
