Figurine Pendant, c. 1000–1500. Western Panama, Veraguas-Gran Chiriquí Style, 11th-16th century. Cast gold; overall: 4.6 x 2.8 x 0.9 cm (1 13/16 x 1 1/8 x 3/8 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Norweb Collection 1951.177 In the Panama-Costa Rica region, gold ornaments were associated with political and religious authority.
