Turbeville, Deborah

American photographer, 1932-2013

Turbeville began her career as an editor of fashion magazines. She was a self-taught photographer and became known in the 1970s for images that encorporated manipulated, scratched, torn and distressed negatives. She was born in Stoneham, Mass., on July 6, 1932, though many sources erroneously state 1937 or 1938.
