American photographer and educator, 1924-1983

Sinsabaugh served as a photographer in the United States Air Force in the Far East from 1943 to 1945, then later studied photography at the Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology, under Harry M. Callahan, Aaron Siskind and László Moholy-Nagy, from 1945 to 1949. He again attended from 1964 to 1967, earning his Master of Fine Arts degree. Sinsabaugh was a freelance photographer in Chicago and Urbana from 1945 to 1983. From 1951 to 1959, he worked as an instructor of photography at the Institute of Design, In 1959, he became head of the Department of Photography and Cinematography at the University of Illinois in Champaign. From 1960 to 1970, Sinsabaugh produced panoramic photographs of the landscape of the American prairies and of the Midwest.
