Rotella, Mimmo
Italian collagist, 1918-2006
Best known for his collages created from commercial posters stripped from walls, which he called "décollages." He abandoned painting in the 1950s to focus on this work, and became a member of the Nouveax Réalistes in France in 1960. His work resembles that of Raymond Hains, Jacques de la Villeglé, and François Dufrêne; together they are often referred to as "les affichistes."
