Newman, Henry Roderick

American painter, ca. 1843-ca. 1917, active in Italy

After a short stay in France in 1969, Newman settled in Florence, Italy, and travelled periodically in Egypt and, later, Japan. Friend of John Ruskin; he made some of the drawings for the "Stones of Venice".
