French painter, sculptor, and printmaker, 1926-2016
Considered one of the key figures in concrete and kinetic art. He began as a painter of figures but soon turned to abstraction. He co-founded the Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel. In the 1960s he began making sculpture, and pioneered the use of neon as an art form.
