Millet, Francis Davis
American illustrator and painter, 1846-1912
Millet was a war journalist for the Russo-Turkish War and a correspondent in the Philippines in 1898. He is best know for his murals and paintings, some of which are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Tate Gallery, London, and the Detroit Institute of Art. He was the first director of the American Academy at Rome and died in the sinking of the Titanic.
