Frank, Josef
Austrian architect and designer, 1885-1967, active in Austria and Sweden
Born 15 July 1885; died 8 January 1967. Josef Frank studied architecture at the Technische Hochschule, Vienna, Austria. He taught building construction at the Kunstgewerbeschule, Vienna (1919-1925). He co-founded the interior decorating firm "Haus und Garten & Co." in Vienna, Austria, in 1925 with Oskar Wlach and Walter Sobotka. The firm was renamed "Haus & Garten, Frank & Wlach" the following year. He designed Haus 26 and Haus 27 at the 1927 Weissenhofsiedlung Exhibition, Stuttgart. In 1933 or 1934 Frank emigrated to Sweden where he worked for the rest of his life in the interior design firm "Svenskt Tenn". Austrian architect, designer.
