Beato, Felice

British photographer, ca. 1830-after 1904, of Italian origin

British photographer of Italian origin, probably born in the Veneto. Noted for photographs of the Indian Mutiny, the Crimean War, and other events of his day. For many years the work of Felice and his brother, Antonio, were thought to be by the same person, in part because certain joint works were signed "Felice Antonio Beato."
