Austin, Richard T.

English painter, engraver, and type founder, born ca. 1768-1830

Studied wood engraving with John Bewick, and worked as a punch cutter in John Bell's British Letter Foundry from 1788. In 1819 Austin opened his own type foundry: The Imperial Letter Foundry, London. He also painted landscapes and exhibited at the Royal Academy.
