Jat Woman's Dress, 1800s. Western India, Gujarat, possibly Kutch. Silk embellished with mirror work and embroidered with silk in open-chain, stem, basket, and running stitch; overall: 129 x 103 cm (50 13/16 x 40 9/16 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Gift of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Wade 1916.1467 Pieces of mirror, called abhla in Hindi or shisha in Persian, were favorite embellishments to embroideries and accessories in western India and Afghanistan.
