The Cleveland Museum of Art, Gift of Michael Mattis and Judith Hochberg 2021.62 Kenilworth Castle has been a tourist attraction since the late 1700s. It gained an even larger audience when it became the subject of Sir Walter Scott's popular historical romance novel Kenilworth in1821. Kenilworth Castle comprises five centuries of English military and civil architecture from a medieval fortress to an Elizabethan palace.
