Master Series, Portrait of Shi Lu (1919-1982), 2017. Liu Jing (Chinese, b. 1983). Woodblock print and digital lithographic image; image: 90 x 60 cm (35 7/16 x 23 5/8 in.); paper: 120 x 60 cm (47 1/4 x 23 5/8 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Severance and Greta Millikin Trust 2018.205.4 © Liu Jing This portrait of eccentric artist Shi Lu (1919–1982) is from Master Series, featuring leading men of culture in modern China. All of them came under attack during the Cultural Revolution. The award-winning prints combine digital design with oil-based ink woodcut techniques. Persecution affected Shi Lu's mental state and possibly is reflected in his erratic, eccentric artistic style.
