Faith Domergue (kneeling), 1947. Edward Weston (American, 1886–1958). Gelatin silver print; image: 12.5 x 9.6 cm (4 15/16 x 3 3/4 in.); paper: 12.5 x 9.6 cm (4 15/16 x 3 3/4 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Gift of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Longstreth 2019.161 © Center for Creative Photography, Arizona Board of Regents / Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York Although widely acclaimed as a fine art photographer, Weston earned his living as a commercial portrait photographer. He brought to these assignments the same sensibility and artistry, although not always the same passion, as his personal work. This and the three other images of Hollywood actress Faith Domergue in the collection, all from the same sitting, give us insight into his working process.
