Seated Buddha, 1100s. Burma (Myanmar). Gilt lacquer on solid wood; overall: 100 x 62 x 30 cm (39 3/8 x 24 7/16 x 11 13/16 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Gift of Maxeen and John Flower in honor of Dr. Stanislaw Czuma 2011.149 The parallel lines with heart-shaped ends near the Buddha's ankles are the rippling pleats of his garment's hem.
