Snuff Box and Original Case, c. 1750. 18th century. Gold mounted agate with original leather case; overall: 3.2 x 5.7 x 4.5 cm (1 1/4 x 2 1/4 x 1 3/4 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Gift of Howard F. Stirn 2009.37 The designer Bernard Moore studied Asian and Islamic ceramics. He was especially interested in glazes like the vivid red one on this vase that resembles the color of oxblood.
