Green-glazed stoneware with molded decoration, Yaozhou ware; overall: 5 x 19.3 cm (1 15/16 x 7 5/8 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Gift of Mrs. Charlotte Kahn 2001.107 This type of pottery, called Yaozhou ware, is a type of celadon or greenware that is well-known for its distinctive molded decoration. In East Asian art, peonies traditionally symbolize prosperity and wealth.
