Statue of a Man, 200–100 BC or later. Egypt, Greco-Roman Period, Ptolemaic Dynasty. Black basalt; overall: 57.9 cm (22 13/16 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Seventy-fifth anniversary gift of Lawrence A. Fleischman in honor of Arielle P. Kozloff 1991.26 This statue is made of black basalt, a hard volcanic rock formed from lava.
