Head of an Angel, c. 1750. Joseph Anton Feuchtmayer (German, 1696–1770). Painted and gilded wood; overall: 48.1 x 64.3 x 23.6 cm (18 15/16 x 25 5/16 x 9 5/16 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Bequest of Mrs. Severance A. Millikin 1989.154 Part of the angel's wings are made more luxurious by the addition of gold paint, a process called "gilding."
