The Cleveland Museum of Art, Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Michael de Havenon 1973.226 This figure was probably originally meant to serve as the decorative foundation to a larger object such as a casket or urn. In transition from decorative motif to independent work of art, the nether half may have been an addition, evidenced by the seam along its torso.
