Potter Seated with Double Gourd Vase, 1300s. China, Yuan dynasty (1271-1368) - Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Porcelain with underglaze decoration, qingbai ("blue-white") ware; overall: 13.5 cm (5 5/16 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Severance and Greta Millikin Purchase Fund 1973.14 The double gourd is traditionally regarded as a talisman that protected children against diseases.
