Zapata disavowed his privileged background and fought for workers’ rights. In his lithograph, David Alfaro Siqueiros emphasized Zapata’s heroism, showing him astride a black horse. David Alfaro Siqueiros was one of numerous Mexican muralists to depict Emiliano Zapata around the time this print was made.
