Stamp Moistener, c. 1895–1915. Firm of House of Fabergé (Russian, 1842–1918). Nephrite, diamonds, gold; overall: 6.3 x 5.3 cm (2 1/2 x 2 1/16 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, The India Early Minshall Collection 1966.478 This stamp moistener in the form of a green tomato is carved out of a single piece of jade. The stem, tipped by a diamond mounted in gold, is removable. The interior end of this stem holds the brush that is used to wet a stamp for letters.
