Dish with Brocade, late 1600s. Japan, Edo period (1615-1868). Porcelain with underglaze blue and overglaze enamel (Hizen ware, Nabeshima type); diameter: 15.2 cm (6 in.); overall: 3.8 cm (1 1/2 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Severance and Greta Millikin Collection 1964.252 Designs on Nabeshima ware, like this dish, were often inspired by Japanese textiles.
