Bowl with Birds and Flowers, 1644–61. China, Jiangxi province, Jingdezhen kilns, Qing dynasty (1644-1911), "Transitional Period," Shunzi period (1644-61). Porcelain with incised and sancai (3-color) enamel decoration; diameter: 17.5 cm (6 7/8 in.); overall: 9.2 cm (3 5/8 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Severance and Greta Millikin Collection 1964.227 This porcelain bowl is considered to have been made in the "Transitional period," a term used to define the period between about 1620 and 1683 when official kilns in Jingdezhen were no longer under imperial supervision due to the transition from the Ming to the Qing dynasties.
