Inscription: Inscription at top in Sanskrit (damaged): "Moved by the coming of the Lord, the gopis went up to him and were overcome by the sight of Krishna, who was shining with moonlike splendor; then the Lord, who was a (love) thief, wearing yellow garments, smiled slightly with his lotuslike mouth. Radha said to her sakhi, 'He is certainly the God of Love.'" At the bottom in Hindi: "On the banks of the Jumna, the gopis are expressing their grief and sorrow as Krishna tells them he is leaving them."1 (Translation by J. Losty; although the Sanskrit verse is clearly from a Krishna text like the Gita Govinda, the source has not been identified.)
