Chiaroscuro woodcut; The Cleveland Museum of Art, Fortieth Anniversary Gift of The Print Club of Cleveland in honor of William Mathewson Milliken 1960.19 Printed from four blocks in brown, this chiaroscuro woodcut shows the Virgin and Child flanked by the infant Saint John the Baptist and Saint Francis at right. Saint Catherine of Siena takes place on the left, and holds a flower. The CMA owns another version of this chiaroscuro woodcut, which differs in the color of the ink used to print it (1949.81).
