Burchfield Foundation Burchfield was especially drawn to watercolor and experimented avidly with it throughout his entire career. This portable medium allowed him to explore the landscape and continuously rework his compositions. Here, he used shades of green to depict the countryside near his hometown, Salem, Ohio.
