The Cleveland Museum of Art, Purchase from the J. H. Wade Fund 1943.69 A well head is an architectural element that protects the mouth of a well. This example is both decorative and functional. The durable pink limestone well head facilitated access to the water whose restorative nature is echoed in the flowers and vases that ornament its surface.
