Plate, 1100s–1200s. Northern China, Northern Song dynasty (960-1127) - Jin dynasty (1115-1234). Stoneware with mottled glaze, Jun ware; diameter: 18.1 cm (7 1/8 in.); overall: 2.5 cm (1 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Bequest of John L. Severance 1942.665 This shallow plate's light gray stoneware body is covered with a thick glaze of intense robin's egg blue suffused with deep amethyst patches.
