Asian Art
This image of a devotee of the Hindu god, Shiva, may represent the hunter saint, Kannapan, who always has a chignon at the top of his head, wears a moustache and beard, and carries a dagger at his side. Kannapan is one of the few saints who became important enough to have a temple dedicated to him in his home town of Kalahasti, north of Madras.
