Arts of the Islamic World
The Persian lands in and around present-day Iran produced many small glass vessels in the period immediately before and after the advent of Islam. While techniques for working glass appear to have been learned from Mediterranean cultures, the chemical make-up of the glass differs. It is likely that this bottle was created by molding the hot glass into a fluted tube and then blowing into it to create a bulbous body.
